The newspapers today elaborate at length on the truancy of Neo, a renowned film director from Singapore. I feel very misplaced because despite the papers calling him a renowned director, I have never heard of him before.
But now he is truly renowned, even though for the wrong reasons. I am not speculating, but the papers and TV news said he had secret affairs with a number of women, comparable to that of Tiger Woods'. During the press conference when he confessed on the affairs, the wife fainted. The aftermath at home, the broken hearts and broken homes is beyond our prediction.
It is not the man that I am interested in, not even his films and productions. Neither the wife nor the many women. I am interested in the system. The system that looks at adultery as normal, but looks at poligamy (strictly as guided by true Islamic teaching) as evil. The system that looks at the rights of married couple, but forget about the rights of the 'other women' with whom the man had had relationship with. The system that talks about the rights of women but continues to allow women to be treated in that manner.
It is a fact not only in the case of Neo, but millions of cases all over the world. I pray for the day when people will see the wisdom behind God's revelations and live our life guided by His laws.
